Water is our theme this week

This past week has been quite an adventure, all thanks to Grammie and my nurses keeping me busy—and honestly, I've been having such a great time! The exciting news is that I now have a night nurse to help Grammie take care of me. Grammie also got me a felt board with fun animal shapes, colorful pieces, and alphabet pictures that stick to it, as well as a tablet to help me communicate better. This week, I had my first occupational therapy session at home! It was a blast learning new exercises and activities alongside Grammie, my nurses, and the amazing therapists who visited us to help me continue improving.

Bath time in the tub has quickly become one of my favorite parts of the day—I look forward to it every single evening! This week, we also witnessed what GG and Grammie called a "normal rainstorm," which, according to them, often causes GG’s neighborhood to fill up with water. It was such a curious and exciting sight to see! On top of that, Grammie and I have started taking daily walks in my beach wagon. Grammie says it's going to be perfect for our next beach trip, as it’ll help us get to the water super quickly. Honestly, I think that sounds like an awesome idea!

Another highlight of the week was trying out the raft my favorite nurse, Dawn, got for me at GG’s community pool. Floating and playing in the water was so much fun! All of this activity has been wearing me out, though. By the time bedtime rolls around, I’m completely wiped out—sometimes even before then! Grammie says I’ve gotten into the habit of resisting sleep, but more often than not, I end up dozing off while playing with my favorite toys. Grammie has been quick to snap plenty of pictures of me mid-play, so there’s no denying it happened (even if I might want to!).

With fewer doctor appointments for me and extra nursing support, Grammie was able to go out and handle her work assignments this week. I’ve got to admit, I wasn’t thrilled about it. When Grammie isn’t around, I really miss her, and it makes me quite cranky. I made sure to let everyone—Grammie included—know exactly how unhappy I was about her being away. On Friday evening, I even made such a fuss that Grammie had to call my pediatrician and neurologist. My pediatrician suggested I go to the ER, but my neurologist reassured Grammie that my breath-holding tantrum, which caused me to pass out, wasn’t anything serious. Luckily, he didn’t think I had a seizure, which was Grammie’s biggest concern, but he has scheduled an EEG for next week just to be safe.

I know I need to adjust to changes, but that doesn’t mean I have to like all of them, right? The fun changes—or even the challenging ones that help me grow and learn—are okay by me. But Grammie being away more often? Nope, I’m not a fan of that. I’ll figure out new ways to show everyone just how much I dislike it. Who knows, I might even come up with a few surprises along the way!
